Dana Reason and the Dana Reason Trio
Dana Reason is a leading figure in the new generation of pianists who are equally comfortable on both the jazz and classical concert stages. She has been featured on NPR, the CBC and Radio Canada and has performed on some of the major international concert stages throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She has performed with many of today's jazz masters including George E. Lewis, Cecil Taylor, Joelle Leandre, Barre Philips and Joe McPhee.
The Dana Reason Trio features New York bassist Dominic Duval and Montreal drummer John Heyward.
New Yorker Dominic Duval is one of the finest and most prolific bassists on the contemporary scene, having played and recorded with some of the greatest names in jazz and new music. Duval's recent tenure with pianist Cecil Taylor has cemented his reputation as one of jazz's most important figures. Dominic can be heard on more than 50 recordings and has been featured in every major jazz magazine worldwide along with regular appearances in all the annual major jazz publications' Critics and Readers Polls.
Montreal-based drummer John Heward has quietly become one of Canada's leading percussionists working in the field of contemporary music and modern jazz. John has performed with such music luminaries as Steve Lacy, Malcolm Goldstein, Lisle Ellis, and Paul Bley and many others who have sought him out during their Canadian sojourns. Bile Smith of Coda writes that "John is one of Canada's foremost improvising percussionists."
